lyrics

Jeb’s just an old man of fifty
And doesn’t have a friend in the world
Sits on the prairie
And watches the sun go down

Once he was a bounty hunter
He hunted down the best of them all
Until one day they turned on him
But he got no help from the law

They beat him and shot down his wife
Took away his gold and his bride
But now he’s all alone
Nothing left at his side

He turned to the wrong side of the law
Well he didn’t know which side was right
Stole some horses and nearly killed a man
Then fled into the desert night

Sheriff Dan took away Jeb’s gun
And said “You’ll never hunt again”
He went to jail for a number of years
Ended up serving ten

But now he’s all alone
Sits on the prairie without a home
And since they cut out his tongue
He sits around and speaks to no one

He’s gunless and he’s tongueless
But he sits and dreams all day
Of the times when he bounty hunted
That’s how he passes the time away

Jeb’s just an old man of fifty
And doesn’t have a friend in the world
Sits on the prairie
And watches the sun go down

But now he’s all alone
Sits on the prairie without a home
And since they cut out his tongue
He sits around and speaks to no one

He’s gunless and he’s tongueless
But he sits and dreams all day
Of the times when he bounty hunted
That’s how he passes the time away

Jeb’s just an old man of fifty
And doesn’t have a friend in the world
Sits on the prairie
And watches the sun go down
